How To Connect to Ford SYNC®

Connecting to Ford SYNC® is simple, as all you need is your Bluetooth®-enabled phone and the infotainment screen in your Ford. Connecting to Ford SYNC®

Are you ready to “SYNC® Your Ride?” A few different Ford SYNC® systems are available, depending on whether you’ve chosen a new or pre-owned Ford model. Learn how to connect to Ford SYNC® by generation below to help you make the most of your infotainment system:

Ford SYNC® Gen 1 / SYNC® with MyFord

  • Ensure your vehicle is running and in Park.
  • Enable Bluetooth® on your phone.
  • Press the “Phone” or “Add Phone” on your SYNC® system.
  • Wait for the SYNC® system to appear on your phone and select it.
  • Depending on your SYNC® system and smartphone, you will either be prompted to enter a secure PIN or verify the PIN displayed matches the PIN on your phone screen.
  • Once the PIN is confirmed, tap “Pair” or “Okay”
  • Once connected, your SYNC® system will show the device’s name or “Device Connected” on the screen.

Ford SYNC® 3

  • Ensure your vehicle is on or in accessory mode.
  • Enable Bluetooth® on your phone.
  • On your vehicle’s SYNC® 3 touchscreen interface, press “Phone.”
  • Tap “Add Device.”
  • Wait for the SYNC® system to appear on your phone and select it.
  • Depending on your SYNC® system and smartphone, you will either be prompted to enter a secure PIN or verify the PIN displayed matches the PIN on your phone screen.
  • Press “Pair” on your phone and “Yes” on your SYNC® touchscreen.
  • SYNC® will indicate that the pairing is successful. Select “Finish.”

Ford SYNC® 4

  • Ensure your vehicle is on or in accessory mode.
  • Enable Bluetooth® on your phone.
  • On your vehicle’s SYNC® touchscreen, press “Phone.”
  • Tap “Add a Phone” and follow the prompts.
  • Tap the vehicle image on the left-hand side of the SYNC® screen.
  • On your phone, scan for Bluetooth® devices. Select the SYNC® system once it appears.
  • Verify the PIN on your phone and SYNC® screen match.
  • Tap “Pair.”
  • SYNC® will indicate that the pairing is successful.
